1996 Toyota Land Cruiser KZJ78 78 Series Prado

This 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SX KZJ78 is a right-hand-drive example that was imported from Japan to the US in February 2023 by the selling dealer, and it now shows 125k kilometers (~78k miles). Power comes from a 3.0-liter 1KZ-TE turbodiesel inline-four mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is finished in silver and gray over a mix of tan leather and cloth upholstery and equipped with a 2″ suspension lift with Dobinsons Springs as well as xenon headlights, tubular side steps, air conditioning, a Panasonic touchscreen stereo, aftermarket heated front seats, side-folding third-row seats, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. This 70-Series Prado is now offered by the selling dealer with manufacturer’s literature, importation documents, and a clean Oregon title.

The truck left the factory finished in Flaxen Mica (4M7) and was refinished in its current silver and gray scheme under prior ownership. Equipment includes xenon headlights, LED taillights, tubular side steps, window rain-guards, tinted windows, and a left-side fender-mounted mirror.

Steel 15″ wheels are mounted with 33×10.5″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. The front axle is equipped with power-operated locking hubs, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. A 2″ suspension lift with Dobinsons springs has been fitted.

The right-hand-drive cabin houses front bucket seats and a middle bench upholstered in tan leather, while the side-folding third-row seats are trimmed in brown cloth with patterned inserts. Amenities include aftermarket seat heaters for the front occupants and a padded two-tier center console with cup holders as well as air conditioning, a Panasonic touchscreen head unit with remote control, and power windows, locks, and mirrors.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 170-km/h speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 125k kilometers (~78k miles), approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The 3.0-liter 1KZ-TE turbodiesel inline-four features electronically controlled fuel injection and an intelligent electronic throttle control system. The engine was rated at 128 horsepower and 212 lb-ft of torque when new. The selling dealer notes that the oil was changed and the air filter was replaced in February 2020.
